Mariesa Hipolito, LPCC
"“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do.” --Brene Brown
My name is Mariesa Hipolito. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) who enjoys working with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. I grew up in a loud, big and loving family. I call myself a Texsotan as I was born and moved from Texas to Minnesota when I was 13 years old. I became aware of this profession during my undergrad years. I was trying to pursue two majors, keep three different jobs while trying to figure out what my calling was. After I realized I was trying to control too many areas of my life, I took a breath, focused on one major (Psychology) and made necessary steps towards my values. Letting go of control (which is still a process) allowed hope and my faith to grow. I believe when we slow down, talk, and invest in wise counseling, we can find more clarity and hope. I hope that our work together brings clarity, hope, and direction.
Hi, I'm Mariesa Hipolito!
Therapeutic Approach
Life has its joyful moments and painful moments, and I am here to walk through those moments alongside you. Sometimes that will come in the form of play, a child’s way of self-expression. Other times, it may involve an active listening ear. It may be assisting in problem solving skills. Sometimes adding more tools to our toolbox is all that is needed for that season in life. The decision to focus on our overall health and our children’s health is one of the most bravest things to do and invest in. My hope is to offer a safe place to assist in that journey of becoming a healthier you, a healthier parent, and a healthier child.
I am LGBTQ-Plus friendly. I am able to incorporate the Christian belief and practices such as prayer if requested to do so. I incorporate techniques to welcome the ability to learn, apply, and create a healthier self. Therapy techniques may include: play therapy (both non-directive and directive, DBT, sand-tray, CBT, Theraplay techniques, and solution focus.
In my work with children, I integrate play therapy both non-directive and directive techniques. I also provide fun and interactive ways to learn healthy coping skills.
In my work with adolescents, I incorporate different techniques to form a place to be, learn, and identify values. Everyone has strengths and when those strengths are identified and encouraged further, the happier we can be.
In my work with young adults, I assist in accurately identifying the problem with acceptance and change strategies.
In my work with parents, I offer parenting skills that will enhance the bond between children and parents. Increase healthy coping skills. Guide problem solving skills, and offer validation and encouragement because parenting is exhausting, stressful, amazing and rewarding.
Intern Options
Ask me about utilizing a Playmore graduate level intern in a therapeutic team approach. Working with an intern offers more than just another weekly session (for free), it creates more opportunity for family and creative interventions. This therapeutic team approach expands the observation, intervention, and evaluation of the therapy process. All details and arrangements will be discussed and agreed upon with clients prior to utilizing interns.
