Legos provide one person the expressive freedom to create sculptures build out of imagination, while providing another person the comfort of a known rulebook with instructions to follow. This versatility makes Legos a unique and powerful resource for working with kids and adolescents. This class will explore the many techniques and ideas for using Legos inside a play therapy approach that facilitates growth & healing.
This class will be held online through a Zoom conference on Friday, June 19th, 2020 from 9 AM to 12:15 PM CST.
This summer series on play therapy is meant to give therapists new tools and expand their repertoire of techniques for moving therapy forward. Therapy with kids and adolescents is different, and it requires learning new arenas & languages to facilitate growth and healing. These classes are built on sound therapeutic theory and will focus on the application of specific tools through demonstration and interaction.
At the end of this training, the learner will be able to:
- Describe and practice foundational skills of play therapy as they apply to using Legos in session
- Discuss the selection of Legos available and assess criteria for choosing the best Lego sets for a play therapy office
- Discuss & practice using Legos for assessment and intervention
