No sand tray needed! These fun little representations have a wonderful way of engaging imaginative storied play. Mini figures engage with the symbolic and invite the unconscious into a physical form. This ability of mini figures to engage hidden information within us is often incredibly valuable for clients who are stuck or having a hard time moving past cognitive road blocks. This class will demonstrate how a simple collection of mini figures can be used therapeutically from several theoretical frameworks.
This class will be held online via a Zoom conference on Friday, July 17th from 9 AM to 12:15 PM CST.
This summer series on play therapy is meant to give therapists new tools and expand their repertoire of techniques for moving therapy forward. Therapy with kids and adolescents is different, and it requires learning new arenas & languages to facilitate growth and healing. These classes are built on sound therapeutic theory and will focus on the application of specific tools through demonstration and interaction.
At the end of this training, the learner will be able to:
- Describe and practice foundational skills of play therapy as they apply to using mini figures in session
- Discuss the selection of mini figures available, and assess criteria for choosing the best mini figures for a play therapy office
- Discuss & practice using mini figures for assessment and intervention
